In the European lubricants industry, an innovative solution is making waves by transforming how packaging is produced. Two key players have teamed up to develop a new can cap made from 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, offering a more sustainable alternative for lubricant packaging.

TotalEnergies and Bericap have introduced this new cap for 20-liter lubricant cans, marking a significant step forward in the circular economy. The caps are designed for TotalEnergies premium lubricant cans, produced in France and Belgium, and are made using company’s own circular polymer range. This material is a high-quality, mechanically recycled plastic that combines PCR with a booster to match the performance of virgin plastics.

The new caps are designed with eco-design principles in mind and offer several advantages. They weigh 25% less than conventional caps, which leads to reduced material consumption. By utilising recycled post-consumer resin, these caps support a circular economy, promoting the reuse of materials and minimising waste. This innovative packaging solution not only emphasises sustainability but also maintains the high-performance standards required for lubricant packaging.
