Bio-based and plastic waste feedstocks are now being used to create premium packaging for perfumes and cosmetics. These materials are turned into high-quality polymers that go into the production of perfume caps and cosmetic cream jars, offering both luxury and environmental benefits.

Dow has partnered with LVMH to advance the use of sustainable packaging materials across a range of perfume and cosmetics products. This initiative focuses on incorporating materials derived from bio-based feedstock sources and plastic waste, into the production of premium packaging. The bio-based feedstock include raw materials such as used cooking oil, only waste residues or by-products from an alternative production process will be utilised. Therefore, these raw materials will not consume extra land resources nor compete with the food chain. The use of advanced recycling technologies, also known as chemical recycling, helps to transform hard-to-recycle plastics into high-quality materials, offering a second life to waste that would otherwise end up in landfills.

These sustainable alternatives are designed to maintain the high-quality standards expected of luxury beauty products, ensuring they remain functional, aesthetically appealing, and environmentally friendly.

This collaboration is a step toward more circular packaging solutions, helping to reduce reliance on virgin fossil resources.
