Hey Rose and everyone..
Hey Rose, Thanks. We're fine here. Very fortunate at the expense at the other areas. It was a scary couple of days. We had my sister, her husband, her baby, her 2 cats and my parents over at our house. (My sister lives in a total flood zone.) We didn't have to evacuate since we are on the top of a hill. Karen is a total boyscout and had things arranged.
I was cursing myself because I had never bothered to cut boards for the the windows and don't even have tools for that. We had one awning we were able to lower and screw into the house. (this covered windows in our dining room) Plus our trees are huge. They would have been tremendous parachutes for the wind. We were blessed. We just got light rain and wind. Very scary. It sounds like Orlando got hit a bit and Joel had to do a bit of cleanup and Steve of SameOldStory had the power knocked off for his wedding. But congrats to Steve and Cristina! I see Greg hasn't posted on the blog yet, but I haven't checked the boards... Myself, my cats, and my beloved are all alive and well and have suffered no damages due to Hurricane Charley. We even went out on our patio a couple of times and experienced the wind. (Our neighbors made it sound like Nature Boy Rick Flair was living downstairs..."Wooo!") The freakiest thing was the wind blowing strong enough to cause all the inner doorways in our building to reverberate...it sounded like a hive of angry alien bees were coming to get us. Oh, and my job has no power at the moment, plus we lost part of our warehouse roof. So that sucks, but otherwise I'm a rockin' on in O-town! Got some neat damage pics too (fallen trees, crushed billboards, missing traffic lights...)
